CA Pools/Primal Cat. 3s Catch Fire in April – 3 weeks & 4 Podiums!

Cat 3s

#1 The team started April off right with a strong team effort at the Redlands Criterium. Salvador and Peter capped it off on the last lap to put our sprinter Sal in perfect position with 2 turns to go. Unfortunately someone in the top 10 decided to wipe out and take 8 of the top 10 along with him. Good for us Sean escaped the carnage and delivered a 3rd place finish!

#2 About 1/2 the Cat3s headed down to Cyclovets for Sal & CA Pools to get his revenge on the field for the previous weekend. The team again put Sal in position and this time there weren’t any downed riders in his way. Sal 1st, Ernie 8th, Raul 10th, Brian 11th.

#3 The same weekend up in Bakersfield Sean was tearing up the difficult RR. He broke away from the field on the last climb and just barely missed 3rd place.

#4 Again Sean showed his strength and powered his way to the top spot in the toughest race of year for him so far. Sea Otter Circuit Race – 1st place! Awesome job Sean!

And we still have 1/2 the month left!

 

Cat 4s

Rosena Ranch 2

The 4 squad started the month with a 10th place finish for Charles Sutphin at the 30+ 4/5 race.  At the cat 4 race, the squad was in perfect position at the last climb into the finish line when a wayward racer decided to take out several riders in front of us.  Luckily, no one in the team was taken out and Everett Bissonette managed to chase for a top 20 finish.

Redlands

With only 3 racers coming out to play at Redlands, this did not prevent Michael Cleveland to fight for position at the front of the field.  A one-man break held a 20 second lead on the field coming into the last lap.  Michael attacked and made a courageous attempt to catch the break from turn 1.  Michael put in suck a strong effort that the field never caught him but he could not close the gap before the line, ending up with a 2nd place finish.

Cyclovets – San Diego

Michael, Rich Mendez, Mike Finlay, and Travis Roberson came out to represent the team at Cyclovets.  The team performed well by battling against 78 other racers by keeping Michael close to the front and set him up for another excellent 5th place finish.  Rich finished 25 followed by Mike F. and Travis.

San Luis Rey Road Race

Being one of the toughest local road races did not intimidate several members of the Cat 4 squad to tackle the 30+ 4/5 race.  Half of the team survived the first climb when it split the field.  Several members of the team were able to hang on the second and faster climb and split the field even further.  Everett Bissonette was with Travis Roberson and Heith Masters, who were the only ones left in the lead field to tackle the final climb.  Everett chased after a breakaway and managed to be 3rd wheel at 200 meters, but had nothing left to counter the final sprint.  Everett still managed to hold on to 11th, followed by Travis at and Heith at 28th and 29th respectively.  The rest of the team did not give up and finished the very challenging race.

CBR

The month was wrapped up by a solo effort by Michael Cleveland at CBR when he fought for a 13th place finish out of 74 racers!
