Noe Alcala 2nd at Ante-Up Crit Race – Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Mar. 23, 2013 – Noe Alcala (CA Pools / Primal 35+ Team) took on the largely-represented local team, Allegiant Air, to take 2nd in the 40+ race of the Ante-Up Crit at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Noe reports:
…not sure exactly as how many they had in the 40+ maybe 4 or 5. I was expecting the wind to be the number one factor. I knew that if I marked their strongest rider or if I attacked with him marking me it was the end of the story, so that’s exactly what I did. An attack by Mauricio Prado (Allegiant Air) on the second lap and from there the rest of the race was a two-man breakaway in the stupid hard ass wind (not enjoyable). We took it to the end and it came to a sprint. As many know, when I sprint I go backwards, so that’s exactly what happened. I should’ve attacked with two or one lap to go.

Surf City Cyclery Crit- March 3
Travis Roberson in his quest to upgrade to a Cat 4 went on a solo mission to race both the Cat 5A and 5B in Costa Mesa, CA. Using new tips he learned from the Cat 4/5 race training from the dat before, he was able to finish the 5A race at 18th and the 5B race at 7th place.
Tour de Murrieta – March 8-10, 2013
Several members of the Cat 4 squad came out to race all three stages. The first stage was the time trial and Eric Jones was the fastest for the team at 13th place with a time of 12:28, followed by Everett Bissonette at 22nd, and Mike Finlay at 27th. The next day, the team came together and was able to get Michael Cleveland to a 4th place finish during the grand prix on Saturday. The third and final day was the circuit race and the team once again came out in force and braved the chilly 40+ degree weather. The plan was to keep Michael protected and patiently move him up the peloton one lap at a time. Due to the team’s selfless efforts, Michael was able to stay close to the front and latch on to Heith Master’s wheel, who sacrificed himself to lead out Michael for a 3rd place finish!
The Cat 5s came out fighting too when Andy Christian finished 2nd for both the GP and CR for the 5A race. This is in spite of having to go against a very strong and organized Cast a Shadow team. Travis Roberson not to be outdone came out to race on Sunday and won the Cat 5B race. This after he pulled the field for most of the race.
To wrap up the month, Charles Sutphin raced the 30+ 4/5 at the Easter Sunday Ontario race and pulled off a 10th place finish.
